Our rabbit manure is harvested exclusively from two healthy and happy house rabbits – Nathan and Tobias. They are treated like family and dearly loved. These litter box trained “free range” house rabbits are never confined to a cage or left in a hutch outdoors. Their diet consists mostly of hay (80% Timothy, 15% Orchard Grass, 5% Oat) sourced from Small Pet Select, Sweet Meadow Farms, and Oxbow. They also enjoy fresh greens daily (organic, whenever possible): dandelion, dill, cilantro, and Italian parsley. For treats, they receive dried organic dandelion flowers from our own garden, dried organic banana, and a very small amount of Oxbow organic pellets. The droppings can be added directly to your garden / potted plants, tossed into your compost, or they can be easily ground into a fine powder and worked into your soil. Shredded Rotten Wood (Flake Soil) Beetle, Millipede, Isopod Substrate
Important: Please select quantity before ordering (16 or 32 oz) Shredded, decomposed hardwood. (The substrate itself is soft & mushy, but it originally comes from hardwood trees. It’s important to use hardwood/ deciduous as opposed to softwood/ conifers because softwoods contain harmful resins.) Perfect for rearing beetle larvae, millipedes, and isopods (that’s what I use it for) and probably useful for lots of other things as well. I soak the wood thoroughly in boiling water and then bake it in the oven to ensure that no fungi or other hitchhikers survive. If desired, I’ll throw in some springtails (tropical pink) free-of-charge to help keep to soil fresh and clean. Also please note that the wood is measured by volume and not weight, in order to ensure consistency.
