Urea is the world’s most commonly used nitrogen base fertilizer, and is manufactured by mass more than any other organic chemical. Urea contains 46% nitrogen (N), and it is the most concentrated form of nitrogen fertilizer available. The same chemical compound is produced by the human body; the only difference is in the concentration of the urea. Fertilizer produced in the lab has a more consistent concentration. When applied to the soil, it will convert to ammonia and nitrogen which is needed by plants for growth. It’s not just for corn folks, I use it as a side dressing on my Blue Lake snap’s, Lima beans and corn. It is water soluble and can be applied to as a foliar feeding spray.
